5G Unleashes a Tech Battle
A new tech race has just begun!
And it involves some of the biggest tech companies out there.
These companies are in a race to be the first to deploy fifth-generation (5G) wireless technology.
But what will be so great about this technology? Well, for starters, it’ll transform almost everyone’s daily lives. If you think the technology that you use today simplifies your life, then you’ll be amazed by the technology and devices that’ll be available because of 5G’s speed improvements, high capacity, and low latency.
5G technologies will unlock a huge internet of things (IoT) ecosystem. And without a doubt, that ecosystem will cause significant changes in a lot of different industries. It’ll also alter our everyday lives for the better. The capabilities that 5G will bring will be astounding.
The most appealing factor about this tech is that it’ll be fast! It’ll be 1,000 times faster than 4G — our current mobile data technology. But 4G will seem slow in comparison to 5G.
I know I’m not the only one who gets annoyed when it takes a while for something to load on my phone. When I try to pull up a video on my phone to show someone and it takes more than 10 seconds to load, I give up. My attention span is no longer there to wait for the video to load.
And although this problem might not seem so tragic, it’s still an inconvenience that I'd rather not have to deal with. And I know I’m not alone...
5G will push mobile speeds from 100 megabits per second (Mbps) to 10 gigabits per second (Gbps). This will make 5G competitive with the fastest fiber-optic networks. But this is all with one significant difference: 5G is wireless.
Not to mention, the time and energy that will be saved when installing the technology. 5G will consist of thousands of small antennae onto cell towers, utility poles, and buildings. It’ll be easy to install. There will be no digging or maneuvering...
All the Benefits With None of the Work
Wired networks are a lot of work and a lot to consider when laying them out. It’s also a lot of work to get everyone connected. But that won't be the case for 5G wireless technology. People who otherwise wouldn't have access to high-speed internet will now have the option because of 5G.
As I mentioned earlier, 5G will kick off a booming ecosystem for IoT. This is the high-quality wireless connection that the IoT sector has been waiting for. Connected, or “smart,” devices will be able to function to the best of their abilities because they'll be on a network that’ll be able to provide the connection that they need to work properly.
The IoT isn’t the only sector that’ll be greatly affected by 5G technology. The mobile cloud landscape and cloud computing will see a huge shift as 5G technology rolls out.

We’re already using the cloud to store a lot of the data that our smartphones, tablets, and other smart devices use. And those devices and technology are only getting better. And that will mean we’ll have more data that we’ll need to store somewhere. The most convenient option for storing that data will be in the cloud.
I rely on a cloud to back up everything I have on my phone. That includes the 15,000 photos in my camera roll, my contacts, and my emails. These are the most important things on my phone. And if I ever lost them, I’d feel a little lost myself.
Obviously, the biggest benefit that 5G will provide the cloud is its heightened speed. It’ll be quicker to access and quicker to store data. It’ll give the cloud extra capacity, flexibility, and functionality.
5G and cloud services will give other carriers the option to compete against noncellular IoT network providers. It'll open a whole new level of competition that we’ve been waiting for.
Now, other companies will be able to compete with some of the top players in the industry. These are the companies that have been giving consumers the bare minimum when it comes to internet options for decades.
5G will unleash a tech battle that you’ll want to pay attention to!
